Arts and Entertainment: A Fun Day Spent at MFS

Unfortunately, the trip our group was supposed to go on today (Proof Productions) wasn’t able to work out, but nonetheless we went into the day with positivity and energy! We did some service work in the auditorium which was tedious at times, but still fun because we were doing it with our friends. We had an elongated lunch break during which some of us went to Main Street and some stayed at school; we practiced for our recording projects and we closed out the day with a virtual Q&A panel of people who all work professionally in the performing arts industry: Local theatre director/choreographer John Stephan, film composer Nyla Smith, vocalist and studio engineer Penny Samar, and Broadway production fellow Ellie Omori-Sampson. Students in our group asked some thoughtful questions:

“How do you establish a work/life balance when you’re always thinking about your art?”

“Where do you find artistic inspiration?”

“What is something you wish you knew before going into this industry?”

“What was your college to career path like?”

Despite the initial disappointment at our cancelled plans, we still had a great day.
