Cave Dwellers Who Love Zip Lining!

Today we woke up and started our day off by having breakfast at 7:30. For breakfast we had a buffet that had an assortment of great pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and yogurt. At 8:30 we left the hotel and headed out to our first destination of the day: zip lining. It was an hour and 20 minute bus ride there but it was well-spent by talking to friends and playing cards. Along the way we stopped at a grocery store to grab some water and snacks for the day.

When we got to our zip lining destination, there were six lines for us to ride, with each cutting through and over parts of the forest. On our last zip line the instructors even taught us how to go down the line upside down! After zip lining we got back on the bus and headed about five minutes down the road to go cave tubing.

We got ready with our tubing gear, which included helmets, tubes, and life jackets. After getting situated, we went on a 30-minute walk through the forest to get to the caves.

During our walk, we learned a lot about the different trees in the forest and how they can help or hurt you. When we arrived we divided up and suited up. The tubing was slow and on a crystal clear river that went through a cave that the Maya believed to be the opening to hell. In the caves we saw stalagmites and stalactites and also some small fruit bats and larger insect bats.

After floating down the river we had some time to swim and skip rocks before heading back on the bus to go grab some lunch. For lunch we had great rice and beans, chicken, and coleslaw with a drink of your choosing. After lunch we started our journey to our next hotel, which is in San Ignacio, over an hour and twenty minutes away. When we got to the hotel we took some time to look around and become acquainted with the area around us. We then ate dinner by the pool and talked about what would be on the agenda for the next day before heading back to our rooms to relax and get ready for tomorrow.
