Belize Zoo and Water Taxi to San Pedro

We started the day off by packing everything up in our hotel and getting some pancakes and eggs for breakfast. After breakfast we made our way to a farmers market and explored what they had to offer.

Farmers Market

After a quick visit to the farmers market we took an hour-long bus ride to the Belize Zoo.

The zoo had tons of animals like jaguars, monkeys, crocodiles, and parrots, just to name a few. It was nothing like we are used in terms of size compared to the Philadelphia Zoo, but the animals were definitely in more of their natural habitat.

After the zoo we got back on the bus for another hour bus ride to our next hotel. This next hotel is on an island so we had to take a water taxi to get there. This water taxi had three stops and it took us about an hour-and-a-half to get to this next hotel. Looking out on the crystal clear water was amazing, especially knowing how cold it is back home. We couldn’t help but feel a moment of appreciation being out in this tropical setting!

We were the third of the three stops. After getting off the boat we settled down in our rooms before running out to the pool and the beach. Our hotel has a colorful Belize sign right on the beach where you can play cornhole. After enjoying a relaxing couple of hours on the beach, we enjoyed a nice “Taco Tuesday” dinner to conclude the night.
