After a late start to the day, we arrived at GKTW for an 11 a.m. shift. Some had lunch shifts at Clayton’s Diner or had shifts at the ice cream shop, while others had jobs as a castle attendant or an arcade attendant.
When everyone had finished their shifts, we all left GKTW for our group lunch at Miller’s Ale House. We spent more than 2 hours there, chatting and sharing stories and experiences, while watching a Coco Gauff tennis match.
At 6 p.m. we left the restaurant and headed back to GKTW for a Halloween Party. Once we arrived, we headed to the event room and chose our jobs: costume, games (guess what it is, amount of candy corn in jar, etc.), crafts (make a lightsaber/mask). Time flew by as the night went on, adding to the sense of community felt throughout the day. During the costume shift, we were surprised by the small amount of costumes for boys and for older girls. Once the costumes ran out for them, we learned that we could mix and match other costumes to make new outfits for them, which was a really fun and creative way to include everyone.
Our Halloween shifts ended and we began our clean up. After clean up, we signed out for the night and headed home after a quick stop at Wawa. Tomorrow, should be a fun morning where we all will be helping out with Horse and Pony rides.
