Taking Care of Dinner at GKTW

March 23rd, 2019

Today was such a great and long day! We all had the morning and most of the afternoon to ourselves. The juniors woke up early and went to the pool. The seniors all slept in and made pancakes. Everyone got a chance to enjoy the sunny, 80-degree weather and chill back at the condos until the afternoon.

We had the afternoon/evening shift at Give Kids the World. “Give Kids the World is a nonprofit resort in Kissimmee, Florida for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The resort’s focus is providing accommodations and access to donated theme park tickets” (Cited: Wikipedia). We were in the cafeteria serving food and helping guests today. We met Mayor Clayton! From washing dishes and serving hot dinners, to bussing tables and helping guests carry trays, we did it all. However, it wasn’t about us. It was about the children. Giving them the best possible experience was our mission. Meeting the children motivated us to work harder and learn new ways to be humble and gracious. Tomorrow, we plan to do the same. We have the morning shift at Give Kids the World and then the afternoon at Disney Springs! Stay tuned to hear from us soon. Much love!! – Florida Kids
