Xi’an: Bike Rides, Dumplings, and the Great Tang All Day Mall

By Kartik and Tony

你好! (Hello!) Today is our second day in Xi’an, which is the city where we’ll spend the most time during our trip this year. Today, we had a later start, beginning at 9:30 a.m. This gave us all a chance to eat breakfast and hang out with friends at the hotel before we headed out for the day.

In the morning, we started off the day on a bike ride around the City Wall. Starting from the east side, everyone rode 8 miles around the city in a loop. We got to see many different types of architecture. There were also shops and stands on each side of the wall. Overall, it was a very fun and tiring experience for the group.

After our fun bike ride around 古城墙, (Xi’an City Wall) we hopped back on the bus and headed to lunch. For lunch, we went to the dumpling banquet, where we were served so many different kinds of amazing and delicious dumplings. We enjoyed talking while trying all of the dumplings, even trying to eat all of them (we nearly did it too.) After an amazing lunch, we returned to the bus to head to our next destination.

To end off the day, we went to the Great Tang All Day Mall. Before walking around, we all rented and wore traditional Chinese outfits, each having many colors and designs. After we were all ready, we went to the mall, which had many shops and lights alongside the huge street. Many performances and shows were being held there, and lots of traditional music and dancing was happening. At around 8:45 p.m., we headed back to the hotel to get rest for our early day tomorrow, where we’ll have even more fun. This was a very exciting and lively way to end another day in Xi’an. See you tomorrow!
