Mandalas & Yin Yoga

After running down today’s schedule, we started the morning with an hour of yoga flow, using calming lavender scents on our wrists. New poses were introduced, such as Upward Dog, Pigeon, and balancing poses. Our healthy breakfast consisted of chia pudding, brown rice (with peanut butter as an option for mixing), fruits, and yogurt. The dry seaweed nori, in the Asian-styled food theme, was also eaten. Then, we learned about food labels, what they indicated, and what to watch out for. While drawing mandalas, we learned about the history behind them and the different types.

We ate a delicious lunch: whole wheat soba noodles, 3 different kinds of broth, seasoned eggs, chicken, white rice, bonito flakes, and tofu. As the food digested, we watched half of a documentary called “On Yoga: the Architecture of Peace”. Our guest arrived to teach us Yin yoga, at noon. It was calming to learn to stay still in new poses. We ended the day on tasty homemade raspberry sorbet and sherbet and labyrinth mandalas.
