A Great First Day in China

After a tasty breakfast at our Beijing hotel, we started off with some friendly foosball competition, which became very intense.

Later, we walked to the metro station. The underground space was very crowded. We took the train to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. We split up into three groups, and explored the City, while completing a scavenger hunt. We saw the emperor’s numerous buildings, and learned about the culture of old China.

From the Forbidden City, we walked across the street to Tiananmen Square, and posed near the memorial. After a short walk to a restaurant, we tried the famous Beijing duck. After a fulfilling lunch, we took the metro to a park, where we met a tai chi master. He taught the basics of tai chi, in addition to self defense. After some breathing exercises, we took the metro to our dinner restaurant, where we ate Yunnan (a southern province) food, some of which was very spicy.

Finally, we took a bus back to the hotel for some well-deserved sleep. It was a great first day in China.

We will be sharing pictures soon!
