Welcome to an exploration of art and how art interacts with the environment for your Intensive Learning! We have planned a week full of designing, creating and exploring to inspire your creative energy. We will be focusing on the art concepts of TOTEMS and MANDALAS as forms of expressing IDENTITY. Our artworks will be made from some traditional materials like clay and others from found objects. We will do some creation on the MFS campus and some at on-site locations to utilize the natural resources (found objects). Our trips will be on Tuesday to a local park, Wednesday to Pakim Pond in Medford, and Thursday to the beach in Ocean City. You can view some of the project ideas in our Pinterest Intensive Learning Board.

There are a few things you will need for the week so you are prepared to participate in our adventures. Permission slips also need to be returned on Monday.

CLOTHES. You need warm gear! We are requesting that by Tuesday morning you have a bag of gloves, hat and scarf for you to use for the week. We will store your warm gear here. You should also have warm layers that you can shed as we heat up while working. In previous years we have encountered winds that can be as cold as 35*! Remember the pond and ocean are very cold and will cool our surrounding work areas. We also suggest warm boots, preferable waterproof.

WORK GLOVES. If you have a pair that you own or can borrow from your parents, please bring them in.

LUNCH. we will be able to go uptown as a group on home days (Monday & Friday), other days we suggest $10-20/day to purchase lunch on location. We almost always find a WaWa for lunch so that everyone can find something to eat at their budget. Tuesday we may request you bring a bag lunch so we can fit in all we can that day. We would like to picnic at the park destination.

SNACKS. we are asking that everyone contribute $5 for the full week to the snack fund. We will then purchase snacks for everyone for the week.
