Arts and Entertainment, Day One — Exploring the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Our first day of Arts and Entertainment took us to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. After an overview of the trips ahead for next week, we left school at 10:15 am and arrived at the museum shortly after. We checked in and quickly split into groups to explore all the different exhibits! The museum was huge, and it was easy to get lost in the different exhibits, which seemed to blend into one another after a while. There were many different types of art in each exhibit, varying from armor to modern art. There were original van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso pieces. We saw different rooms with ornate furniture from a variety of time periods, and you could read all about each piece! There were a lot of ceramics that were very cool — we had to look closely to see a lot of the details. They also had some interactive areas where you could learn more after each furniture piece. There were a lot of different ways to view each art piece such as, walking and viewing, sitting down to watch a film, and tapping different pieces on a screen. The museum was very interesting and fun to explore! Some students enjoyed the sculptures, and others enjoyed the tapestries and stained glass — there was something for everyone to enjoy.

We ate lunch at the museum cafe. The restaurant had tons of different food options such as customizable pizza, sandwiches, and rice bowls. There was also a coffee bar with many different pastries and drink choices. Everything was very yummy. Overall we had a great day! We’re excited to see what’s in store for next week.
