Today is the last day of Intensive Learning, and the Arts and Entertainment group had a great time! The group had the opportunity to visit Gradwell Recording House, and it was a really unique experience. When we first arrived, we were introduced to the studio space and got a behind-the-scenes look at all the equipment used to produce music. There were microphones, mixing boards, soundproof booths, instruments, and so many cables and controls that all play a role in shaping how a song sounds. It was interesting to learn how much technical work goes into recording music, which is something we hadn’t really thought about before.
After we were introduced, we spent time practicing the songs we had prepared this past week. Each group had their own ideas, so it was cool to hear how everyone approached their performance differently. Practicing in a professional setting made it feel more serious and exciting at the same time.
The highlight of the trip was definitely going into the actual recording booth. Being inside the booth felt very different than practicing in the classroom. It was quieter, more focused, and a little bit scary knowing everything was being recorded. Each group got a chance to perform their song while the rest of us watched and listened from outside. It was interesting to see how multiple takes and adjustments are sometimes needed to get the best version of a performance.
Overall, the trip to Gradwell Recording House was both fun and educational. It gave us a new appreciation for the effort and detail that goes into making music sound polished and professional.
