Today, we spent time at the Autostadt, translated as “Car City.” It is home to the Volkswagen Factory and numerous pavilions devoted to the history, development, and manufacturing of Volkswagen cars. There were buildings devoted to Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Seat, Skoda, and the famous Volkswagen Beetle. After spending time in the complex, we took a boat down the river the Volkswagen factory. There, we went on a bus tour through a small section of the factory that spans over 200 km. We were able see the production line, and watch as several models of VW cars were put together. The tour was brief, and we were not allowed to take pictures or videos because VW is very secretive and worried about people stealing their trade secrets. Although the complex was huge, with many interactive exhibits, MFS was able to finish up by 6:00 pm and return to the hotel for a lovely dinner.
