Berlin, Day Two — Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, a Holocaust memorial, and the Berlin Wall

Guten Morgen! Today, we headed onto a very comfortable coach bus to the underground bunkers! To our surprise and disappointment, we missed our tour 🙁 But, we are resilient! We found a Curry Baude cart nearby and enjoyed some currywurst, bratwurst, and pommes (French fries). No worries, though. Once our Berlin tour guide, Luca, stepped on the bus, we were all in! First, we started at the gorgeous and historic Reichstag (parliament) buildings and the Brandenburg Gate. We loved to see the scenery and the architecture. After we stopped there, we walked for about two minutes to get to a Holocaust memorial, one of many in Germany. This specific one was also an interactive art installation; it commemorated the six million Jewish lives lost with over 2,000 unique stones; all of which were a different height and shape. We reflected on our various experiences after we each walked the bumpy walkways through the stones, and then we headed to the historic Berlin Wall. The near endless wall is painted with awe-inspiring murals that all represent many different things. Tomorrow, we look forward to our Leipzig city tour and arrival in Dresden to further explore Germany!
