Day Three

3/24, after breakfast, we took the bus to visit the Bethel Foundation in southwest Beijing. The foundation is a place for blind orphans. While we were there we cleaned, picked up tree branches, washed down play equipment, and cleaned up their pool. All the kids were friendly and the staff was nice. In the school was a shop where you could purchase cards, shirts, pictures etc., all of which were made by the children and staff. It was a great experience!

At 5:45,we took the subway to Nanluogu xiang, a street market in the city where we split up into groups to shop and get dinner by ourselves to speak Chinese independently. At the street market, it was really difficult to communicate with Chinese people, but it was amazing that we could use Chinese that we learned in school and actually get to speak to Chinese people. We came back to our hotel to rest up before our big day on the Great Wall.
