Today we woke up early and ate a delicious breakfast in the Nanjing Airport Hotel. We then took a lovely bus ride to the train station where we departed from our amazing tour guide, Li Li, who sang us a captivating song that captured the essence of our eternal friendship.
After the surprisingly short train ride (1 1/2 hours), we arrived in the magnificent Shanghai! After a lunch of juicy, mouthwatering dumplings as well as the usual twenty other dishes, we went to a beautiful garden filled with intricate scenery. We then had an unforgettable experience of bargaining with the locals at a large market. After departing the market with hundreds of yuan less, we got to eat another terrific meal. To conclude the day we took a magnificent cruise ride through the Shanghai River to see the wondrous lights. Pictures of the beautiful view of the lights against the water will never be able to live up to the true experience, but David Dai’s picture comes close!
