China: The last steam train

photo 3Today, we ate breakfast at 7:30 and were on the bus by 8:00, headed towards BiaJiaoGou. At 12:30 we ate lunch in the mining village of JiaYang, before boarding the only remaining steam train in the world. The train took us through beautiful mountain landscapes and performed several shows for us. By 3:00 we were settling into the rustic BiaJiaoGou hotel.

We quickly ventured out of the hotel to explore the isolated town and meet the locals. We went to the village’s elderly home and met with and sang for the residents. They were very impressed by our singing abilities.

After this visit, we split off into different activities, such as ping pong, Chinese hackeysack, cards, mahjong, and even Zumba. Our activities were interrupted for a delicious barbecue dinner. The remainder of the evening was spent relaxing and playing more cards and mahjong games that were interrupted by a sudden flash photoshoot. It was another great experience and day here in China. It is hard to believe we only have 2 more days.
