Today, on this very sunny and hot day, the Foxes visited Lafayette College. Lafayette College is a small liberal arts school with about 2700 students (10:1 student to teacher ratio). During our visit, we were accompanied by Lafayette alum and expert: Chris LaTempa. When we first arrived on campus we were surprised to find out that the campus was uphill.

Nonetheless, the campus was stunning with bright green landscaping and students chilling on the lawn. Many were out enjoying the nice spring day.
During our information session, our group learned many interesting facts about the school. In fact, this year the school is celebrating 200 years (founded in 1826). Lafayette College offers over 50 majors within four categories: engineering, social humanities, social and natural sciences. Students at Lafayette actually don’t have to declare their majors until the end of their sophomore year except for engineering majors; the decision time for that is at the end of their freshman year.
Lafayette College is a D1 school that offers 23 different sports. They’re most known for their 161 year football rivalry with Lehigh University. After learning more about Lafayette College, we headed out to begin our tour.
Our tour guide, Phoebe, showed us buildings with intricate carvings that added to the cozy feel of the campus. When we went inside, we observed the interior and the art. Phoebe talked about her experience at Lafayette and some fun facts, including Lin Manuel Miranda’s visit to give a speech.

Afterwards, we ate in the dining hall, which housed many students who seemed to be enjoying their food and talking to their friends, one of whom jokingly advised us to avoid attending Lafayette.
Then, Mr. LaTempa led us to some areas that we didn’t get to see, like the football field and alumni center, both of which were well-maintained.
