This Intensive Learning examines the effect of environment on human behavior.

We punish criminals by putting them in a locked room, inside a locked building, and we leave them there for a specified period of time. Prisons are the warehouses where people are supposed to change. As sixty-seven percent of prisoners are back in jail in three years, our hope of a miraculous change seems unfounded.

Can prisons be designed to help criminals choose a new road in life?

Believe it or not this is a prison in Loeben, Austria. What is your reaction? What might be the response of an incarcerated individual to this setting?
