Exploring Art: Final Day — Bringing It All Together

After lunch, we finally got to set up our ceramic totem poles on the MFS grounds. The poles consist of cylinders, pinch pots and other shapes stacked on top of one another. Each person made at least 3 pieces for the totem poles. Each piece was decorated individually to represent the individual and the larger group and community. We had enough pieces to create 4 totems. The final works really look professional, and we look forward to the community’s reaction to our artistic contribution.

As a final project, since totem making is so much fun, we created a totem pole of animal spirits fabricated from tennis balls (see other post from today for images). We salvaged the tennis balls from the woods around the courts too. It was a fun and whimsical way to end a fabulous week!
