Folk Art: A Gift from Prometheus

We started the day with hot chocolate and pottery painting with chemical dyes (using copper and iron). With carefully wrapped pottery in tow, we moved outside for some good old-fashioned manual labor. Taking turns, we dug a hole (that was supposed to be a cubic meter) and prepped firewood.

Once we got the fire burning and the pottery baking, we fired up the grill to prepare many other things. Delicious things. Our lunch consisted of hot dogs and burgers, their vegetarian counterparts, vegetables, and samosas. Everyone took a break after lunch to play lacrosse and relax and we got back to work after, albeit with one less than functioning leg.

Scoop by scoop we refilled the hole after unwrapping our pottery and dousing the fire. A few of our pieces survived and the colors we got were beautiful! Once we had at least tried to rebuild the ground, we collected all of our things and returned inside to clean up. Overall the day was hard work, but rewarding and so much fun!
