Galápagos: Day on San Cristóbal Island

Our final day in the Galápagos was certainly one to remember. We started out the day the same as yesterday, with an early breakfast and getting on our speed boats for our two-hour trip to San Cristobal.

San Cristobal is the youngest of the five large islands. When we got there we got to meet our guide’s daughter Raphaela. She was very cute. We took a short bus ride to this beautiful beach. There we were able to do some great snorkeling. We got to see a giant tortoise in its element. They move so effortlessly in the water as compared to land. What a site to see! There of course were the resident sea lions. We were able to pose for pictures with a few.

We then took another bus ride into town and had one our best meals of the week. It was pork, beef, chicken, potato, salad, and rice. Cooked perfectly. After lunch we hit one more beach. Here we did some more snorkeling, walked to a lighthouse, and enjoyed the sun. One of the resident sea lions decided to come out and play with the group in the water. While we were on our guards, it was fun to see animal and human being together.

When we got back to the hotel, we had about an hour to get changed and head to town for the night. We were able to eat, relax, and shop on our own.  A great way to end a great day. Tomorrow we head back to the mainland to get ready for our return to NJ on Saturday.
