Goats and Châteaux: The Beautiful Countryside of Burgundy

We started our day with a 2-hour bus ride to the countryside of Burgundy. We picked up our tour guide June in the local town. On our way we stopped by a goat farm and pet the goats. After that we went to the home of a cheese maker’s house named Annie. She taught us the steps to make goat cheese and let us try some — yum! After that we got back on the bus and drove to our tour guide June’s house.

Once we got off the bus we all started setting up for a French garden lunch outside. We had a spread from a variety of cheeses, breads, quiches, meats, fruits, salads and sweets. As we were eating we overlooked the beautiful countryside. After lunch June showed us around her property, which included her bed and breakfast and farm animals such as her cats and a not-so-friendly goose. We ended her time at her house by helping her clean up her garden and move rocks.

After we had helped clean up her garden we got back on the bus and drove to the Château de Drèe. On the way there June told us all about the wonderful sights to see while we were driving, including one of the oldest in the region. Once we arrived at Château de Drèe we took a tour around the property and inside the château. It was one of the most beautiful sights we have seen this trip.
