The Defeat of Agatha

Today we started off by splitting into two groups; one stayed indoors and began painting the mural and the other went outside to clear the area for the outdoor classroom.

The crew that stayed inside worked on the sky mural.  They finished the sketching and began painting trees and clouds.   By the end of the day, all of the trees were completed and about half of the clouds were finished.  They then finished the day by completing the rainbow that had been started on Friday.

The crew that worked outside primarily focused on clearing out the area for the outdoor classroom that will be set up shortly. All of the leaves were cleared out of the area along with the vines that grew against the trees. One vine was particularly thick and was named Agatha. Four of the men and women hacked at her for a long period of time and eventually ripped her off of the tree. The stress level was high outside because of the amount of work that had to be done as well as the cold weather beating at the poor kids.

Overall, today was a successful day! All of us continued to bond with one another as well as working effectively. Tomorrow, the start of the outdoor classroom will begin with the construction of the benches as well as the planning for it.
