London: ‘Lying in’ and other adventures

Day Three

Today we started out with a delightfully late morning — what they call here in London a “lie in.”

We went to the Science Museum, which was very fun. The interactive exhibits were particularly enjoyable.  You could learn about the laws of magnetism and gravity by playing with magnets and discover how hearing aids work by listening to music.

After that, we headed to St. Paul’s Cathedral, where we got to see some beautiful architecture and participate in a scavenger hunt.

Our delicious lunches were followed by an afternoon spent at the Tower of London. Illegally riding a double decker bus, strolling around for a few hours to learn some history and see some lovely architecture, we can truly say that the afternoon was a success.

The medieval dinner was a particular highlight of today, as some of us got to take a picture with a Henry VIII lookalike, and all of us got to have some authentic fish and chips.

We finished up the night with a Jack the Ripper tour around East London, led by our charismatic and hilarious tour guide, Sean.

Overall, our favorite parts of the day were seeing the Crown Jewels, the sushi conveyor belt at lunch, and just being with everybody. We look forward to tomorrow!
