Pottery, History & Fun in Martinique

We started off the morning at 8 o’clock, with a surprise drizzle. Then we all ventured off to breakfast, which was quickly followed by a bus ride down to an artisan Potter who taught us about pottery and how to create art on the wheel. Some of the group got the chance to try to create a pot on the wheel.

After the potters we traveled on the bus to La Savane des Esclaves where we learned about the history of Martinique and walked around a village that was designed to resemble the life of a slave in Martinique. We also got to see the artist who created this work of art, Gilbert Larose.

After, we went to a restaurant in the town for lunch where we tried to order our food in French. Then, we got free time in the afternoon. Some of us got ice cream and walked around the town while others went to the pool and beach. We had a very relaxing evening and discussed our garden project for tomorrow! We ate dinner, played cards and went to bed early because of our early morning tomorrow!
