South Jersey Service Day 4: Visiting Lutheran Crossings

Today was a day filled with a variety of activities at Lutheran Crossings in Moorestown. Everyone got to do something different to suit their own interests. We all got to interact with many different residents during our time there.

Some highlights are:

“Some of us danced the Cotton Eye Joe several times today for the residents. Our calf muscles feel like they are going to fall off from all the jumping around!” — Gabby M.

“I had a really great time playing ‘UNO’, singing and dancing, and talking with all of the assisted living and Alzheimer’s residents.”— Lily B.

“I enjoyed going to the Lutheran Home because I got to speak to some of the residents especially when we played UNO. I also had a lot of fun when my friends and I sang songs, and danced.” — Saiya P.

“I enjoyed talking with the Alzheimer’s residents and learning about their lives, and I had a good time painting nails and playing games with other residents.”—Annabelle

“I had an amazing time talking to the residents with Alzheimer’s and getting to know them. Christine and I also got a chance to sing and play ball with them. They had so much energy and were just fun overall.” — Lauren K.

“I enjoyed talking with the Alzheimer’s patients and learning how I can make their day so much better by just listening to them.” — Emily Z.

“It was an interesting visit to the Lutheran home. I enjoyed putting up decorations, talking to and improving the days of the residents, and seeing the building. The Lutheran home and its doctors are very nice to the patients.” —Tyler P

Overall, this day has benefited so many people, including the residents and us students. We all look forward to returning to Lutheran Crossings again some time soon.
