Yoga Day 3: I like the orchids

We started off the day with yoga practice at 7:00am in the morning. Today’s morning practice was less physically intense than yesterday’s. Today we practiced ashtanga yoga. Each pose was drawn out and lasted for five breaths. After yoga we had a healthy breakfast of homemade yogurt and granola. We made bracelets and other assorted crafts while playing relaxing music and just relaxing as a group by meditating. The meditation focused on stillness in spite of discomfort. By doing that, we experienced the enemies of the mind: Sloth, Agitation, Craving, Aversion, Doubt, which led to a really great discussion.

After lunch, we went to Longwood Gardens to see their beautiful orchids show. We relished in the gorgeous floral arrangements. Some orchids have very unique and different shapes. The orchids were truly perfect in their ability to calm our minds. I really really really liked the orchids. After that, we hung out in the garden and put ourselves into the nature. When we got back, we started to practice inversions. They were extremely fun and also a little bit difficult. We practiced headstands and crow pose primarily. All together, it was a great afternoon, and we finished it off with a delicious meal for supper. After supper, we talked about our greatest fears. In this case, everyone tried to be vulnerable for each other and share their feelings about fear. Finally, we did Nidra yoga for recovery and relaxed ourselves at the end of a day.
