Saying Goodbye to Bayshore

Today was out last day working at the Bayshore Discovery Center. Our day began with long bus ride to Bivalve, NJ. When we arrived, we began working immediately. Before even working we separated into groups that had different jobs, like organizing materials or lifting planks of wood. First, Alex and I moved large planks of wood into a U-haul truck. Next, we collected signs for their Bay Day festival and altered dates on the signs. We then proceeded to sand the planks of wood that would be used in the hull of the ship. After sanding the planks for an hour, we began to paint them with green paint. The paint was specialized to preventing the rotting of the wood. Lastly, we held a banquet with some Bayshore crew members called Triston (the First Mate who led us for the week) and Seth. The banquet consisted of pizza and salad but more deeply was a time to reflect on our work over the past week. It allowed us to connect more with the people we were working with and appreciate their and our hard work to rebuild Bayshore to what it once was.
