Day Two: Sun and Sanding

Prior to arriving at Bayshore Discovery, we stopped at Wawa which was different from the one we stopped at on Friday because it was under construction. When arriving, everybody put on their layers of clothes but we all soon figured out that it was warmer than we thought. We started to sand more blocks and spars in preparation for putting the oil onto the wood. Everybody was sanding away and having a grand time. Post sanding, we broke to have a snack on the floating dock. This snack consisted of clementines, pretzel rods and animal crackers.

Our instructor taught us how to properly put a special oil on the blocks and spars in order to protect them from water damage. We finished our day by sanding the last couple of blocks and shortly had some hoagies from Wawa. Overall it was a successful and productive day and we can’t wait to go back tomorrow!
