Dog Days

We started off our dreary Monday morning by enjoying some breakfast food and watching dog development videos (the socialization period starts around 3-4 weeks, when the pups’ eyes open and they can hear, and lasts only until about 12 weeks!).

We then got on the bus and headed off to our first park, Timber Creek! There we walked in a fenced, off-leash dog park where dogs are able to run through several acres of forested terrain. Next, we headed off to our second park, Freedom Barks. This park was only partially fenced in, but was great for big dogs, including huge open fields and agility course equipment. We met Blythe’s french bulldog, Solitaire, who got to explore with us. We also met a nice dog sitter with Albus Dumbledore and Jackson, a Bernese Mountain Dog and an adopted mixed breed, and another owner with a recently rescued three-legged puppy who had been abused.

Before our third dog park, we made a quick stop at Wawa to recharge. We then arrived at Laurel Acres Park to look at the difference between a large dog run and a small dog run, closer to what would be found in cities, and took a quick break from dog learning to get some cardio in by running up the infamous Laurel Acres hill. Upon returning to school, we watched several animal shelter PSAs to give us inspiration for our projects. We finished our day by meeting in groups about our projects and watching a dog movie while making our homemade dog toys out of cotton rope. We look forward to visiting Penn Vet tomorrow!
