Hope & Dreams

Day 3 started off bright and early. The gang left no time to dilly dally and was on our way at approximately 7:15. Naps were an absolutely necessity on the way to the food bank. When we all arrived at the 2nd Harvest Food Bank we checked in and were guided to a break room where we watched a video about how this specific location was established. Their mission is about providing people hot meals.

Our crew was split up doing an assortment of packing jobs. Those jobs included packaging hot dogs and tater tots, salads, manicotti & garlic bread, oranges, & celery. All of these meals we were putting together were being sent out to the local Head Start program so that they wouldn’t miss a meal and be hungry. Mr. Cotter, Olivier, Hannah, Lauren, and Joe were put on the duty of making and packing hot dogs and tater tot lunches. Joe was a little too speedy when working on the hot dogs and Olivier could just not keep up when putting tater tots in the packaging boats.

When we got back to our suite the guys indulged in another intense basketball game tying the series 1-1. We enjoyed another beautiful sunny day at the pool as people tanned and played a classic game of taps (not tips). Later in the afternoon we traveled to Give Kids The World to continue our service.

After splitting up into our evening shifts more than half of us participated in the lit Halloween party. It consisted of a lot of different games and crafts such as making ghost lollipops, masks, and face painting. (Who doesn’t like face painting?) There was also a special trick-or-treat trail for the children and parents. The kids really seemed to enjoy their candy bags. By 8:30 the families were enjoying a movie in the theater as the Halloween party came to a close. Then something miraculous occurred. We spotted a wild armadillo! He eluded us for the most part but we did somehow snag a picture of the little guy. We capped the night off with a Wawa run, and we are excited for Downtown Disney tomorrow!
