Mindfulness, Day Four — Moroccan mint, morning yoga, and mindful moments

Today’s theme was community growth. We started off our day as usual with a 20-minute morning meditation video to clear our minds and get us ready for the day. The theme was loving-kindness and compassion, which are important steps towards building community.

After our meditation we did a yoga session led by Mr. Harmenil, since it is very useful for your mind and body. When we finished yoga we had our daily tea time. Today we had Moroccan mint tea, which had a very unique taste, and it was definitely the most liked so far. It was refreshing and easy to drink, so we could empathize with the Moroccan culture, which drinks tea late into the night. While we drank the tea we watched a film on how stress is affecting people in America today.

Later we finished our mindfulness moments posters and hung them around the school to inspire people to be more mindful and show what we have learned. Our teachers then surprised us with a trip to Akira where Josh enjoyed his Japanese cuisine and Jaylen ate multiple plates of sushi. We ended off the day with a trip outdoors where we played wallball, basketball, or read a book of our choice in another successful day of mindfulness. – Jadin
