Reflections on the Myrtle Beach Trip

image1 (1)Last night the baseball team returned from a successful trip to Myrtle Beach.  We learned a lot about where we are as a team, where we would like to be by the end of the season, and how we can go about accomplishing our goals.  Our trip was book-ended by the two long bus trips under the expert guidance of our driver, Mac.  Resourcefulness and some creative use of a projector allowed for several movies to be watched, helping to pass the time and keep everyone entertained.

While we were in Myrtle Beach, we definitely took full advantage of the facilities at the Cal Ripken experience — hitting in the cages, and getting 4 games and numerous practices in on the turf fields.  We got a chance to put into action all the things we talked about and worked on in the gym and the outfield while we were waiting for the weather back home to cooperate.

We enjoyed working at the Low Country Food Bank in Myrtle Beach, and definitely felt like we made a difference during our time there.  Sorting the food, organizing and stacking the boxes to prepare them for distribution, and then watching them get fork-lifted away was a very tangible way to see how the work we did will benefit the community.

We also enjoyed our downtime in Myrtle Beach, with team dinners, a trip to the indoor pool at the complex, mini golf, go-karts, and other group activities.  We have definitely returned to Moorestown as stronger team, ready to take on the challenges of the season!
