So many memories … so much food!

Today we started our day off by having breakfast at 7:30. After breakfast we went on a public bus to go to the Shaanxi Museum at 8:30. The Shaanxi Museum had four different galleries that all related to China’s history and culture. While at the museum we split into teams and had a mini scavenger hunt for artifacts. During this hunt one of the groups ended up running into Elizabeth Garvey, who was a former MFS student in the 1950s and who now lives in Howell, Michigan! What a small world. After everyone had a look around the museum we all came together and had one last meeting looking back on the great memories we made on the trip. Everyone was able to share their favorite moments and what they learned from their amazing experience in China!

At 12:30 we walked to a mall where we ate lunch and were able to go shopping for 2 hours. The mall was huge and had 7 floors! There was even a waterfall in the middle of it! However, with the clothing and merchandise being a little expensive there was more looking than buying. When we finished walking around the mall we took a subway to a calligraphy market where we were able to buy more souvenirs for family and friends. After going through the market we split into two groups. One group went back to the hostel to freshen up for our last dinner in China, while the other group went back to the Muslim Market to buy things they weren’t able to buy the other day.

Once we were all gathered back at the hostel we left for dinner at 6:00. We went to a nice restaurant and had a massive and outstanding banquet style dinner in order to celebrate our last day in China. After dinner we returned to the hostel and finished packing our luggage and preparing for our long flight back home tomorrow. We can’t believe it’s over already, but it’s been an amazing adventure!
