At the Zoo

We began our exploration of museums with a rainy, windy trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. Our docents explained many of the things that go on behind the scenes at this living museum.

Our group walked around together and looked at the exhibits. The first thing we saw today was the monkey exhibit. After this, we commenced our tour with Bob. With Bob, we saw reptiles and “cats”, and afterwards began to walk around on our own. We saw flamingos, a giraffe, and a rhinoceros. We even got to see a peacock. As we viewed these wild animals, we thought about the logistics and ethics of the situation. We marveled over how the zookeepers tended to the animals and considered the mores of zoo life. Today was a fascinating experience, and we were able to get a small glimpse of the animals’ lives.
