Today, we learned all about each other and Puerto Rico before starting our trip tomorrow. We began the day by making some blueberry pancakes along with drinking some orange juice.
After we ate, we researched different parts of Puerto Rico such as their history, fun facts, common language/phrases, the rainforest, and the bio-luminescent bay. We also started learning about the impacts of Hurricane Maria. Then, we presented our slides to each other so that we could all get familiar with Puerto Rico.
We proceeded to listen to a podcast about one family’s experience during the time of Hurricane Maria and how it affected them. We also learned about how the healthcare system in Puerto Rico works and how it worked during the hurricane. We discussed and reflected on what we heard in the podcast.
We ended the day with a traditional Puerto Rican meal provided by the dining hall.
We are ready to start our adventure tomorrow.
