The Wonders of Xi’an: Terracotta Soldiers and Biang Biang Mian

你好!

Today was a eventful day. Sadly it was one of our tour guide’s last day with us. After saying goodbye to Willy at breakfast, we set out to go see the terracotta warriors. We first went to a ceramics shop where workers hand make replicas of terracotta soldiers. They came in many shapes and sizes. At Emperor Qin ShiHuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, we met a tour guide who informed us about the historical significance of the tombs and the emperor himself.

We walked around to the four different buildings that were open to the public. There were 3 dig sights, pits, and one gift shop with a historical movie. We were able to see different types of terracotta soldiers and other terracotta ceramics at all of the pits, which included mostly horses. It was amazing to see the 2000 year old statues and hear the history!

After we wrapped up at the museum, we walked to lunch. Lunch consisted of a famous noodle dish in Xi’an called biangbiangmian. It was delicious!

We then got on the bus and headed back to the hotel to freshen up before going out to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. We were able to explore the neat park around the structure and the fountain. We met up for dinner and went to a delicious Korean barbecue. The dinner was refreshing and enticing. Dinner ended with Carie’s birthday celebration and a magnificent cake to go with it. Finally, we went back to the pagoda to see the light and fountain show. Some people got ice cream while watching. We then caught a bus back into Xi’An so we could go to the hotel and rest up for our big hike tomorrow!

P.S. You can see a couple screen grabs from MFS on the local news from our visit to the school. We are famous!!image image imageimage image image image image image
